Be Careful, Hong Thai Herbal Inhaler Indicates Containing Hazardous Bacteria

JAKARTA - Recently, a plant product from Thailand, Hong Thai Herbal Inhaler Formula 2 was withdrawn from circulation after Thailand's Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (FDA), because bacterial contamination was found that exceeded the safe limit.

Reporting from The Straits Times page, this withdrawal was made to Lot 000332, as many as 200 thousand units produced on December 9, 2024 and has an expiration date of December 8, 2027.

The founder of the company, Teerapong Rabuethum, confirmed that the contamination only occurred in the batch. Other batches remain safe to use and are still on sale as usual. He also denied reports that all production and sales had been completely stopped.

According to the company's explanation, the number of microorganisms found exceeds the set safety standards. However, the FDA has not announced the type of bacteria involved or the specific health impact.

Teerapong said the company's previous internal testing results did not show any abnormalities. Even so, it is still working with the FDA to investigate sources of contamination and ensure the safety of future products.

Currently, HongThaitengah is withdrawing products that are included in Lot 000332 from the market, because this is classified as long, only a few products have been collected. The destruction process is being prepared with the FDA and its official date will be announced later.

As an anticipatory measure, the company promises to tighten quality supervision at each production stage. They will also add ultraviolet (UV) sterilization processes to ensure the products in circulation are completely safe.

For consumers or distributors who have contaminated batch products, Hong Thai offers full refunds as well as new replacement products at no additional cost.

The public is advised to check the product batch code before it is used to avoid health risks due to contamination.
