Beware Of 21 Skincare Withdrawn BPOM, 'Doctive' Products Blacklisted

JAKARTA The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) has again taken firm action against violations in the cosmetics industry. In order to tighten supervision, BPOM found 21 cosmetic products whose formulas did not match the data reported during the notification process.

The head of BPOM, Taruna Ikrar, explained that monitoring was carried out not only through routine examinations, but also through issues circulating in the community, including from reports on social media.

"In addition to routine supervision of circulating products, BPOM also monitors issues circulating in the community. One of them is news on social media," explained Taruna Ikrar, quoted from the official BPOM website.

"Recently, cosmetics have spread with compositions that are not in accordance with those listed on the packaging. For this reason, we are intensifying surveillance to follow up on this matter," he continued.

The results of the examination show that there are different types and levels of material between those produced and the information listed on the packaging or those recorded in the registration data.

This case is most commonly found in production contract products. These differences not only violate the rules, but also have the potential to endanger health, such as triggering allergic reactions for sensitive users. In addition, the benefits of the product can differ from the claims listed.

This violation contradicts the BPOM Regulation Number 21 of 2022 concerning Procedures for Submission of Cosmetic Notifications. As a sanction, BPOM revokes the distribution/notification permit of the 21 products and orders their withdrawal and destruction.

Taruna Ikrar reiterated the importance of compliance with cosmetic producers with applicable regulations.

"Creating cosmetics must always be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations, including guidelines for Good Cosmetics Making (CPKB). It requires the manufacture of each batch of cosmetic products must be in accordance with the name of the product and the formula submitted/approved notification," he said.

"In addition, the cosmetic notification (BUPN) owner's business entity is also advised to always make concrete efforts to ensure that the products distributed have composition in accordance with the one notified," he added.

BPOM also urges the public to be more careful in choosing beauty products and practicing the CekKlik principle, namely Package Checks, Labels, distribution permits, and Expired. If you find suspicious cosmetics, people are asked to report to BPOM.

One of the products on the list that is in the spotlight of netizens is the Amiraderm Glowing Night Cream Series belonging to Dr Amira Farahnaz, Dipl. AAAM, also known as a 'dopter of detectives'.

"In response to the circulation of information about our product which is said to not have a distribution permit, the Amiraderm Glowing Night Cream Series has been registered with BPOM with registration number NA18250103420," said Amiraderm, quoted from the Instagram account @amiraderm.official.

Amiraderm did not provide an explanation regarding BPOM's findings regarding the different compositions of other notifications.

"We are committed to always complying with the rules and security standards of the POM," he continued.
