JAKARTA - The Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) welcomes the plan for a policy of granting allowances of Rp. 30 million per month from specialist doctors who work in the 3 T region (left behind, frontier, and outermost), which was determined by President Prabowo Subianto.
The provision of these allowances is planned to start disbursing in August 2025. This policy is called IDAI as a form of appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice of health workers.
"This policy is a form of appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice of health workers who serve people in areas with limited access," said Head of IDAI Central Management, DR. Dr. Piprim Basarah Yanuarso, Sp.A(K), in an official statement, on Friday, August 8, 2025.
However, IDAI also asked for clarity on several important things related to the policy. Some important things that need to be explained and perfected are as follows.
1. Clearness of assignment status
IDAI said that in providing these allowances, the government must provide clarity regarding the status of its recipients, whether specialist doctors are undergoing temporary assignments or permanent assignments in the area.
According to IDAI, if the policy is for doctors with short-term assignments, additional incentives are needed for specialist doctors who serve in the long term in the 3T area.
"If this policy is only intended for short-term assignments, it is necessary to prepare additional incentives for specialist doctors, including pediatricians, who choose to serve in the long term, for the sustainability of health services," said Doctor Piprim.
2. Guarantee of allowances and incentives without deductions
IDAI also asked for clarity about guaranteed allowances that were lowered, without any deductions. This guarantee must be carried out on a strong hubukm basis, so that specialist doctors who work can get protection and the spirit of service is maintained.
"The promised allowances and incentives must be given in full without any deductions, and guaranteed on a strong legal basis," he said.

3. Provision of proper housing
In addition to financial allowances, IDAI also asks the government to provide a proper place to live for medical personnel who serve in 3 T areas. This decent housing facility is needed to support the quality of life of doctors and their families.
"The facility includes at least access to electricity, clean water, and adequate internet connectivity, in order to support the quality of life of doctors and their families," he explained.
4. Improvement of health facility infrastructure
IDAI also asked the government to improve the infrastructure of health facilities in 3 T areas, outside of providing allowances. Hospitals or health centers in the 3 T area must be equipped with essential medical equipment and others, for all health-related processes in the area to run smoothly.
Not only that, IDAI also admitted that it would be ready to cooperate with the government to ensure that policies related to medical personnel run smoothly. With good collaboration, it will create better health services in disadvantaged areas in Indonesia.
"We believe, with the full support of the government, specialist doctors, including pediatricians, will be more motivated to contribute in disadvantaged areas," concluded Doctor Piprim.
