Be Careful, Eyeliner Can Be A Nest In The Rainy Season

JAKARTA - Eyeliners who are often used to reinforce the appearance of their eyes can turn out to be a place for fungi and bacteria to grow if their cleanliness is not maintained. This risk increases especially in the rainy season, when high humidity in the air makes microbes easier to breed.

Child ontalmology consultant and strabismus of Mata Sankara Hospital, Hyderabad, Dr. Palak Machwana, reminded that eye makeup products need to be used carefully.

'Silent eyes, if not used carefully, can become the accomplices of criminals. It is very possible for flaws sticks, pots, or applicators to develop bacteria or fungi, especially during the rainy season," Palak said, quoted from the Hindustan Times.

He explained that damp conditions can increase the risk of eye infection such as conjunctiontivitis (red eyes), bintian, to ulcus konnea. Sharing eyeliners with others can also accelerate the transmission of eye disease or worsen existing symptoms.

Furthermore, Palak highlighted the use of homemade flaws which are often considered safe due to natural ingredients.

He suggested that the public prefer the branded scar products that have been tested on annotally compared to cheap products without safety standards. In addition, eyeliners should not be applied too closely to the inner eyelashes because they can clog the glands and trigger infection.

Maintaining the cleanliness of the applicator is also important. Eyeliner pencils should always be intertwined so that the end remains hygienic and does not accumulate germs. If signs of irritation appear such as red eyes, itching, runny, or fluid come out, Palak emphasized that the use of eyeliners must be stopped immediately and consulted with an eye doctor.
