Tips For Children Who Are Good At English, Learn Early

JAKARTA - Mastering English from an early age provides many benefits for children, both in the world of education, future work, to the ease of communicating globally. However, so that children can master English well, a proper and consistent approach is needed.

According to Matthew Kenley, President Director of EF Kids&Teens, one of the best ways to help children learn English is to create special time for English.

This was revealed at the 17th National Spelling Bee Competition (17th Spelling Bee National Competition) organized by multinational companies as well as the English school network, EF Kids & Teens.

"It is hoped that parents will make English time. So that the expansion of English will increase, more often. Take time for English time, talk English," he said when met by GBK Basketball Hall, Senayan, Jakarta on Sunday, January 19.

This provides an opportunity for children to hear and speak in English, which is much more effective than just learning theory from books. Matthew stressed the importance of introducing English in everyday life to children.

"So that they can hear, don't learn from books. Because theory is important, but what is more important is to practice it directly," he added.

By practicing to speak in English regularly, children will master this language more quickly. In addition, the development of education in Indonesia also provides great opportunities for children to master English.

"The new curriculum will include English as part of the national curriculum. From there, we can help a lot with education in Indonesia," said Rhea Danaparamita, Marketing Director of EF Kids & Teens.

This will certainly further strengthen the English language skills of children throughout Indonesia through three main steps.

"There are three things to do. First, the curriculum is always updated. Second, training for teachers so that the standards of teaching in EFs are consistent and the same in every place. Third, audit centers. Each center will be audited to ensure that they follow the standards set," explained Christopher Lloyd, Director of Operations EF Kids & Teens.

With this approach, English language education for children becomes more effective and quality. In addition, children can participate in English competitions to hone their skills, such as participating in the National Spelling Bee competition. Not only is it a competition for spelling skills for the participants, but also a stage to celebrate student dedication, parental support, and the importance of education in preparing Indonesia's young generation for the global future.

This event is the peak of the journey of the Schelling Bee competition which has started from the regional stages from October to December 2024 in 36 cities throughout Indonesia. This national competition brings together the best 900 finalists from the four categories of participants, namely Group A (SD students in grades 1 and 2), Group B (SD students in grades 3 and 4), Group C (SD students in grades 5 and 6), and Group D (SMP students in grades 1-3). This national competition consists of three rounds, namely preliminary, semifinal and final rounds, with the aim of finding the three best winners from each category.
