LRT Jabodebek Collision In Cibubur, Adhi Karya: Possibly Testing, Otherwise Trains Just Stay At The Station

JAKARTA - A video on social media has gone viral. The video shows two integrated cross-rail trains or LRT Jabodebek Cawang-Cibubur colliding. The accident occurred on the Munjul segment, East Jakarta, this afternoon.

The video of the LRT accident has been viewed 197 thousand times, and received 1,400 comments from netizens.

"Cibubur LRT collision on the Munjul segment, East Jakarta, this afternoon 25/10/2021," reads the video caption, quoted from Instagram @jakarta.terkini, Monday, October 25.

As is known, the LRT train is currently undergoing a series of trials, before being inaugurated for mass operation.

Adhi Karya's Corporate Secretary, Farid Budiyanto, told VOI, Monday, October 25 that his party as the provider of the Jabodebek LRT infrastructure stated that they were still looking for complete information regarding this incident.

"Trial trains are the domain of INKA and KAI. Janu is communicating with PT KAI and INKA to explore events in the field," said Farid.

According to Farid, it was suspected that this collision occurred because the LRT was being tested.

"It is most likely like that, considering that if it is not tested it (the train) will stay static at the station or at the stations," explained Farid.

Farid reiterated that this incident was beyond Adhi Karya's responsibility. The reason is, Adhi Karya is only a provider of train infrastructure such as rails, structures, and signals.

"It's not our domain, it's in the realm of the pilot operator," said Farid.
