JAKARTA - The government through the Minister of Finance (Minister of Finance) Sri Mulyani reports that it has prepared funds of Rp. 745.2 billion which will be used to pay tuition fees for 310,508 students throughout Indonesia.

"This fund is issued by the government as assistance to students as well as to ensure that no students drop out due to lack of funds," he said in a virtual press conference with the Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim, Wednesday, August 4.

According to the Minister of Finance, the educational assistance will target students in semester 3, semester 5, and semester 7.

"This assistance is only once in this odd semester," he said.

Furthermore, the state treasurer also explained that out of a total of 310,508 students who were targeted, this was a reflection of 74 percent of all active students registered at the Ministry of Education and Culture.

"Later on, students who have been verified can receive assistance of Rp. 2.4 million per person," he said.

As for the payment mechanism, the government will directly transfer it to the university's account when data validation has been completed.

"This budget is included in the social protection policy to help the community, especially in poor and vulnerable conditions," closed the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
