JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) reported that KAI Group's revenue reached IDR 17.96 trillion, an increase of 6.61 percent compared to Semester I 2025 of IDR 16.85 trillion.

The growth in revenue was followed by a 18.81 percent increase in gross profit, from Rp5.72 trillion in the first half of 2025 to Rp6.79 trillion in the first half of 2026. In the same period, net profit increased 25.79 percent, from Rp3.71 trillion to Rp4.66 trillion.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said that this achievement shows that the main business activities of the KAI Group continue to strengthen in line with the growth of services, productivity improvement, cost management, and synergy of all company entities.

In addition to passenger services, freight also supports KAI's business activities, namely throughout the first semester of 2026, KAI served 32,498,043 tons of goods, consisting of 26,534,095 tons of coal and 5,963,948 tons of non-coal commodities.

He added that the service supports the distribution of strategic commodities for energy, industrial, plantation, container, cement, fuel, and various other logistics needs.

In addition, Anne said that her party has a large capacity and a planned travel schedule so that it can support the smooth running of the national supply chain.

According to him, the strengthening of goods services is also carried out through the addition of facilities, namely until Semester I 2026, as many as 1,080 flat cars have arrived to strengthen the capacity of goods transportation in Sumatra.

"KAI is also developing the Brumbung Cargo train service with a capacity of up to 800 tons per set," he explained.

In the first semester of 2026, KAI's container transport was recorded at around 2.62 million tons, and the development is aimed at providing a large-capacity, scheduled, rail-based distribution option that is connected to industrial and logistics activity centers.

"Freight services play an important role in supporting national economic activities. Strengthening facilities and services continues to be carried out so that trains can serve the needs of the business world more efficiently while helping to maintain the smooth distribution of strategic commodities," said Anne.

In terms of financial position, KAI Group's total assets as of June 30, 2026 were recorded at Rp. 104.79 trillion, with total liabilities reaching Rp. 65.11 trillion, down from the position of December 31, 2025 of Rp. 66.14 trillion.

Meanwhile, total equity increased from Rp39.29 trillion to Rp39.69 trillion.

Meanwhile, KAI Group's net debt increased from Rp19.40 trillion at the end of 2025 to Rp21.04 trillion as of June 30, 2026.

Anne said the change in current year profit was mainly influenced by an increase in the net loss booking from associate companies and joint ventures, from Rp948.20 billion in Semester I 2025 to Rp3.00 trillion in Semester I 2026.

He added that in the midst of the record, KAI Group's main business activities continued to generate revenue, gross profit, and operating profit growth.

"KAI continues to align the company's steps with the BUMN transformation agenda with Danantara Indonesia," he said.

Anne said the strengthening was aimed at increasing productivity, operational efficiency, governance, modernization of facilities and services, utilization of technology, and synergy in the BUMN ecosystem.
