JAKARTA - The national route of the Anai Valley which connects Padang and Bukittinggi, West Sumatra Province, is now back to normal after permanent handling of flash floods and landslides that hit the area in November 2025.
The completion of the handling ended the recovery process of one of the strategic routes in West Sumatra which had been cut off due to hydrometeorological disasters.
In addition to connecting Padang and Bukittinggi, the section is also the main access to Riau Province and North Sumatra.
Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that the Lembah Anai section had been back in operation since December 16, 2025 to support community mobility.
Meanwhile, the permanent handling work was successfully completed according to the target in July 2026.

The handling, which started on November 28, 2025, includes repairing the road body, securing the slope, strengthening the river bank, building drainage, handling the Margayasa Bridge to the construction of permanent construction at all affected points. The total value of the contract work is IDR 460.11 billion.
According to Dody, the handling is not only focused on the road body, but also targets the causes of damage so that the infrastructure is more resilient to similar disasters in the future.
"If we handle the road, the cliff must also be handled. Otherwise, the road will not last long. Therefore, all handling in this area is done permanently to make it safer and sustainable," he said.
Based on data from the West Sumatra National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN), the disaster in November 2025 caused one point of road body to be broken, 19 landslides, and damaged two bridges on the KM 61+600 to KM 67+400 section. As a result, traffic flow was temporarily diverted through the Sitinjau Lauik route.
