Husein Sastranegara Airport Bags Certificate to Operate Boeing 737-800, Ready to Serve Scheduled Flights

JAKARTA - Husein Sastranegara Airport, Bandung, West Java, is one step closer to resuming scheduled flights using medium-bodied jet aircraft.

This is in line with the steps taken by the Ministry of Transportation to issue an Airport Certificate (SBU) Number: 005.1/SBU/VII/2026 which is a requirement for the operation of narrow-body aircraft such as the Boeing 737-800.

Corporate Secretary Group Head of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney Airports, Arie Ahsanurrohim said the issuance of the certificate on July 23, 2026 is proof of the airport's readiness in supporting the operational optimization program.

"InJourney Airports meets the compliance aspect in the series of optimization of Husein Sastranegara Airport. Preparations are running smoothly, marked by the issuance of SBU Number: 005.1/SBU/VII/2026," he said in an official statement, Monday, July 27.

In addition to allowing medium-body jet aircraft operations, the certificate also states that Husein Sastranegara Airport has met the requirements for Flight Accident Assistance and Fire Fighting (PKP-PK) Category 7 facilities.

Arie said that this achievement was inseparable from the support of various parties in preparing the reopening of Husein Sastranegara Airport.

"We are very grateful to the Ministry of Transportation, the Indonesian Air Force, the West Java Provincial Government, the Bandung City Government, and all parties for the support provided to InJourney Airports in carrying out various preparations for the optimization of Husein Sastranegara Airport," he said.

To meet the requirements of the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, InJourney Airports has carried out a number of infrastructure improvements. The company has improved a number of runway, taxiway, and apron points to be able to serve narrow body jet operations.

On the safety side, the capacity of the PKP-PK service has also been increased from category 5 to category 7.

Not only operational aspects, InJourney Airports also transforms services through three pillars, namely Premises, People, and Process.

"On the Premises pillar for facilities focusing on customer experience, we have renovated and beautified the passenger terminal with a modern concept and emphasized the combination of West Java cultural wisdom," said Arie.

The renovations include the renovation of public facilities such as toilets, prayer rooms, nursery rooms, to public transportation waiting areas.

On the air side, the company also beautified the terminal facade and landscaped the park.

In addition, the airport is now equipped with a coworking space facility that allows passengers to work while waiting for flight schedules.

Meanwhile, on the People pillar, InJourney Airports ensures the availability of human resources according to operational needs.

As for the Process pillar, the company strives to ensure the smooth running of all passenger departure and arrival processes, including drop-off and pick-up services in the airport area.

InJourney Airports is optimistic that all preparations for the optimization of Husein Sastranegara Airport will be completed according to schedule.

Thus, the airport is ready to serve scheduled domestic and international commercial flights using jet and propeller aircraft, non-scheduled commercial flights, and non-commercial flights for domestic and overseas routes.
