Bulog Serap 3.5 Million Tons of Rice, Breaks 87 Percent of National Procurement Target

Perum Bulog recorded the realization of the procurement of equivalent rice from domestic harvests reaching 3.5 million tons as of July 24, 2026.

This figure is equivalent to 87 percent of the national target of 4 million tons and is an important achievement in strengthening national food security.

Director of Perum Bulog Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said that the achievement was the result of the synergy of various parties, from farmers to the central government, in optimizing the absorption of wheat and rice in various regions.

"Alhamdulillah, as of July 24, 2026, the procurement of equivalent rice from domestic harvests has reached 3.5 million tons. This achievement is the result of hard work and synergy of all parties, from farmers, field agricultural extensionists (PPL), Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, Bulog working partners, regional governments, to the central government. The optimal collaboration is a strong foundation in realizing sustainable food self-sufficiency," he said in an official statement, Friday, July 24.

Rizal said the increasing procurement trend made Bulog optimistic that the target of procuring 4 million tons of rice equivalent could be achieved in the near future.

According to him, this achievement will further strengthen the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) and at the same time be an indicator that Indonesia is on track to achieve sustainable food self-sufficiency.

"Bulog is optimistic that the target of 4 million tons will be achieved soon. This is not just an achievement of numbers, but a tangible manifestation of joint success in strengthening national food independence. We believe, with the support of all parties, the dream of sustainable food self-sufficiency will be stronger and can be optimally realized until the end of September 2026," he said.

Furthermore, Rizal emphasized that Bulog would continue to absorb the grain and rice produced by farmers even though the target of procuring 4 million tons had been met.

This step is taken to maintain the stability of rice prices at the farmer level, improve the welfare of farmers, and strengthen national food reserves.

"Bulog's commitment is to continue to be present for farmers. After the target is achieved, we will continue to absorb domestic harvests as much as possible in accordance with government assignments and available capacity," he said.

In the future, continued Rizal, Bulog will continue to strengthen coordination with all stakeholders so that the absorption of crops in various production centers runs optimally.

This effort is expected to maintain the sustainability of food self-sufficiency while strengthening national food independence and resilience.
