JAKARTA - PT Astra International Tbk strengthens the development of the Astra Bugisan Sejahtera Village in Prambanan District, Klaten Regency, as a community-based cultural tourism destination. The development is carried out by optimizing the potential of Plaosan Temple and expanding economic benefits for residents.

Plaosan Temple is one of the main attractions of Sejahtera Astra Bugisan Village. This historical site represents the harmony of Hindu and Buddhist cultures, which also become the identity of the village in developing culture-based tourism.

Astra has been assisting Bugisan residents since 2022 through programs covering health, education, environment, and entrepreneurship. The program has reached more than 3,000 residents and has encouraged an increase in the income of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Astra Bugisan Sejahtera Village by 31 percent.

Astra Boy Kelana Soebroto, Chief Corporate Affairs Astra, said that developing local potential needs to be carried out through collaboration between the community and various stakeholders.

"Astra believes that every region has potential that can be developed to create sustainable benefits for the community. Through collaboration with the community and various stakeholders, Astra is committed to continue supporting the development of local potential to be able to provide added value for the community while supporting sustainable development in line with Astra's vision for Sejahtera Bersama Bangsa," he said.

In the health sector, Astra supports the implementation of integrated posyandu for toddlers, adolescents, and the elderly. This program focuses on providing nutritious food in an effort to address stunting.

Assistance in the field of education is carried out through Javanese literacy education and local cultural values for tourists and students. Residents also receive capacity building for tourism human resources, digital literacy, and training in creating content for village tourism promotion.

Environmental management is also part of the development of the Astra Bugisan Sejahtera Village. Residents process inorganic waste into creative products, including puppets from garbage. This village also carries out the planting of dluwang trees and maggot cultivation.

This effort led the Sejahtera Astra Bugisan Village to receive the Prime Village Climate Program (ProKlim) Certification in 2023.

In the entrepreneurship sector, Astra supports the development of environmental and cultural education packages, such as rice planting packages and the Twin Temple package. Residents are also assisted in marketing products through Instagram and expanding cooperation with online travel agents (OTA).

The development brought Sejahtera Astra Bugisan Village into the Top 50 of the Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) 2022. This village also won the 2nd Champion of the Tourism Awareness Campaign in 2024.
