JAKARTA - PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA) recorded coal sales of 21.10 million tons throughout the first half of 2026. Meanwhile, from the production side, the coal production volume was recorded at 19.45 million tons.
PTBA President Director, Bambang Ismawan, said the operational performance in this period reflects the Company's commitment to maintaining the continuity of production and coal supply to customers.
"This achievement is an important foundation for the Company to continue to create added value for all stakeholders," said Bambang, Friday, July 24.
Until the first semester of 2026, domestic sales were recorded at 10.77 million tons or around 51 percent of total sales, while export sales reached 10.33 million tons or 49 percent. Export sales increased by around 5 percent compared to the same period last year, supported by continued strong demand from a number of destination countries such as Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, to Thailand.
However, Bambang emphasized that meeting the needs of the domestic market remained the Company's priority, including to support national energy resilience. Until Semester I 2026, sales to the PLN Group reached 7.78 million tons.
Overall, the realization of sales for Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) needs reached around 55 percent of total production, or has exceeded the minimum DMO provision of 25 percent set by the government. This shows PTBA's commitment to maintaining coal supplies for national energy needs, while still optimizing opportunities in the export market.
In terms of transportation, PTBA managed to transport 18.15 million tons of coal until June 2026. The volume of transportation through the railway reached 17.47 million tons, reflecting the support of reliable logistics infrastructure for the smooth distribution of the Company's coal.
Bambang added, the Company also continues to implement selective mining to maintain the effectiveness of mining activities. Until the first half of 2026, PTBA recorded a stripping ratio of 5.26x, so it is still within the Company's annual target range of 5.63x.
To support operational sustainability and business development, PTBA continues to realize capital expenditure (capex) allocated for the development of logistics infrastructure, including the Tanjung Enim-Kramasan coal transportation project and the construction of the Banko Inpit Conveyor, to improve the Company's operational performance sustainably.
"Entering Semester II 2026, PTBA will continue to strengthen operational reliability, maintain cost efficiency, optimize the domestic and export markets, and continue various strategic projects to support the Company's sustainable growth in the midst of global coal industry dynamics," concluded Bambang.
