Tanjung Serdang-Lontar Road Improvement in Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan Province, not only facilitates the distribution of goods, but also opens a more comfortable access to a number of flagship tourist destinations in the Sea Island area.
The improvement of road conditions carried out by the Ministry of Public Works (PU) through the Presidential Instruction Program (Inpres) Regional Roads (IJD) is expected to also encourage the growth of the tourism sector by facilitating the mobility of tourists to coastal areas.
Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that IJD not only aims to increase connectivity in the region, but also strengthen people's economic activities through more efficient access to production centers and other potential areas.
"Through this IJD Program, the government ensures that the food supply chain runs smoothly from upstream to downstream and directly connects the production center area to consumption markets in a much more efficient and sustainable way," said Dody as quoted from a written statement, Friday, July 10.
Dody assessed that the impact would be felt immediately on the ground, such as the time taken for distribution being shorter, the cost of logistics transport can be suppressed and the risk of crop damage during the journey can be minimized.
In addition to being a distribution channel for the region's flagship commodities, Jalan Tanjung Serdang-Lontar now provides easier access to a number of tourist attractions in Kotabaru Regency.
Some destinations that can be reached through the road include Teluk Tamiang Beach, Teluk Kemuning Beach, Teluk Aru Beach which is known as the location for the Katir Race and Sea Festival, Nusa Dua Beach, Sebanti Beach to Teluk Jagung Beach.
With the road conditions getting stronger, the trip to the tourist area is expected to be more comfortable, so that it can increase the number of tourist visits while providing economic impact for the community around the destination.
Apart from the tourism sector, Jalan Tanjung Serdang-Lontar is also an important route for plantation, fisheries, mining activities, as well as the distribution of export charcoal from Tanjung Lalak Utara Village to the port.
The road also connects to a number of strategic transportation nodes, including the Tanjung Serdang Port (ASDP), the PT Indonesia Bulk Terminal Port and Airport, Gusti Syamsir Alam Airport, Lontar Terminal, and Tanjung Lalak Ferry Wharf.
Not only that, the road also connects five sub-districts, namely South Sea Island, Kepulauan Sea Island, Tanjung Selayar Sea Island, West Sea Island and Central Sea Island with the capital of Kotabaru Regency.
The handling of the Tanjung Serdang-Lontar Road was carried out through the 2025 Regional Road Inpres Program with a state budget of Rp. 23.74 billion.
The work includes the improvement of a 4.5-kilometer road using a six-meter-wide Hot Rolled Sheet-Wearing Course (HRS-WC) asphalt layer designed to provide driving comfort and have resistance to weather and traffic loads.
The program is part of the implementation of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 11 of 2025 concerning the Acceleration of Improvement of Regional Road Connectivity in Supporting Food and Energy Self-sufficiency, which aims to strengthen regional connectivity while encouraging regional economic growth.
