UBSI Strengthens Human Capital Investment through Champion Scholarship, Recruiting National Martial Arts Athletes

JAKARTA - Bina Sarana Informatika University (UBSI) strengthens its human resources development strategy (SDM) through the Champion Scholarship program by recruiting national athletes in the Tarung Derajat sport, Nayla Khairunnisa, as a new student at the UBSI Pontianak Campus.

The scholarship program is part of the university's efforts to expand access to education for high-achieving students while producing graduates who have academic and non-academic competitiveness.

West Kalimantan athlete Nayla chose the Informatics Study Program at UBSI after receiving the Champion Scholarship.

With this scheme, he can continue his higher education without having to leave his career as a national athlete.

The young athlete has just won the first title in the Tarung Derajat branch at the 2025 National Championship of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora RI).

In addition, Nayla is also trusted to strengthen the West Kalimantan contingent at the 2025 Tarung Derajat Martial Arts PON in Kudus, after previously participating in the 2023 Pra PON XXI and winning the 2022 West Kalimantan Provincial Sports Week (Porprov).

Nayla said education was an important long-term investment to support a career after the end of the athlete's career.

"I believe that education and sports achievements can go together. I chose UBSI because I saw that this campus provides opportunities for students to develop, both through academic and non-academic activities. I want to continue to excel in Tarung Derajat while preparing for the future through education," he said.

According to him, the world of sports has a time limit so that education becomes a resource to face the professional world.

During her education, Nayla plans to strengthen her competence in the field of information technology while expanding her professional network.

UBSI Pontianak Campus Student Affairs Coordinator, Yoki Firmansyah, said the presence of an outstanding athlete is part of the campus' commitment to building an educational ecosystem that supports the development of talent in various fields.

These values are expected to inspire other students to continue to develop, both in the academic and non-academic fields," said Yoki.

He added that UBSI continues to expand support for students through student activities, competitions, organizations, competence certification, to the development of interests and talents in the fields of sports, art, and technology.

According to Yoki, this strategy is expected to produce graduates who are adaptive to the needs of the world of work while having a strong track record of achievements since they were in college.

The Champion Scholarship Program is one of UBSI's instruments to attract talented young people and strengthen investment in human capital development, which is considered an important factor in improving the quality of Indonesia's workforce in the future.
