JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) officially launched the optimization of the Financial Information Service System (SLIK) as a step to expand financing access for MSMEs, accelerate the 3 million house program, and strengthen credit distribution in the banking industry.

The Chairperson of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, conveyed that the strengthening of the banking intermediation function was carried out through the improvement of the credit information system managed through SLIK.

"Through SLIK, we have a big and noble goal, namely increasing the distribution of credit and financing to the community in a quality and targeted manner so that it also supports maintaining the stability of the financial sector," he said at the Launching of SLIK Optimization, Monday, July 6.

Friderica, who is familiarly called Kiki, explained that the optimization of SLIK is carried out so that debtor information becomes more up-to-date, proportional, and relevant in supporting the process of assessing creditworthiness and financing.

He explained that one of the forms of improvement was the acceleration of reporting the status of credit or financing that had been paid into SLIK, which was now set to a maximum of 3 working days.

Previously, data updates could take up to 1 to 1.5 months.

"This is also a very large input from consumers, where when consumers apply for credit, even though the credit is already paid off, they have to wait 1 month or the next 1.5 months before there is a clearance that he has paid off the credit. Now 3 days should have information about paying off," he explained.

In addition, he added, OJK also applies a nominal limit (threshold) of above Rp. 1 million for debtor information displayed in SLIK, so that the data used in the credit assessment process remains relevant and proportional.

"These two steps are not just a refinement of the process, but are part of strengthening the credit ecosystem itself to be more qualified. Thus, financing can remain prudent, but more responsive to the needs of the community and the business world," he explained.

Kiki emphasized that this step is an important part of building a more credible credit reporting system to support national economic growth.

He added that the optimization of SLIK is also expected to help financial services institutions in channeling financing more accurately, including for the housing sector which is a priority for the government.

"The availability of more up-to-date, accurate and relevant debtor information will certainly help financial service institutions in distributing subsidized housing and mortgage financing more quickly and prudently, including within the framework of the 3 million house program itself," he added.

Through this policy, Kiki hopes that access to financing will be wider, especially for low-income people, MSMEs, and groups that have so far faced limitations in accessing formal financial services.
