JAKARTA - PT Danareksa (Persero) or BUMN Holding strengthens the development of industrial areas together with the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin). The partnership is carried out through the management of strategic industrial areas to accelerate industrialization in Indonesia.

To accelerate this industrialization, PT Danareksa (Persero) also manages seven strategic industrial areas spread across various regions of Indonesia. The seven areas include the Batang Integrated Industrial Area (KITB); Wijayakusuma Industrial Area (KIW); Medan Industrial Area (KIM); Nusantara United Area (KBN); Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (JIEP); Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (SIER); and Makassar Industrial Area (KIMA).

Overall, the seven industrial areas within the Danareksa holding have an area of around 7,800 hectares with an occupancy rate of around 70 percent.

The area accommodates around 1,200 workers with a total investment of US$10 billion or equivalent to Rp177.4 trillion and absorbing more than 300,000 workers.

"This achievement shows the contribution of the BUMN industrial area in strengthening the competitiveness of the national industry," said Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, quoted from a written statement, Thursday, June 25.

According to Agus, the role of industrial areas is increasingly strategic in supporting national economic growth. The reason is, until mid-2026, Indonesia has 179 industrial areas spread across various regions with a total area of almost 100,000 hectares.

The industrial area has accommodated around 11,970 tenants, recording investment realization of IDR 6,744.58 trillion and absorbing around 2.35 million workers.

"Industrial areas not only become the location of the operation of manufacturing companies, but also become drivers of investment, job creation, and an important instrument in accelerating the transformation of the national industry to be more advanced and sustainable," he said.

In the recent meeting, the Ministry of Industry and PT Danareksa (Persero) also discussed various opportunities for the development of industrial areas in the future, including strengthening the consolidation of SOEs industrial areas, transformation towards green industrial areas, as well as plans for the development and expansion of new industrial areas.

This step is considered important to accelerate the spread of new economic growth centers, especially outside Java Island.

However, the Minister of Industry admitted that the development of industrial areas still faces a number of challenges. Starting from land and spatial aspects, infrastructure, the environment to the need for institutional strengthening and incentives.

Therefore, collaboration between the government, SOEs and business actors is considered an important factor in facing these challenges while accelerating the development of competitive and sustainable industrial areas.

"In the future, we hope that the SOE industrial area can continue to grow, expand the scope of industrial development to various regions and become a driver of economic equalization that provides real benefits for the community," concluded Agus.
