JAKARTA - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa invites investors, especially those with large funds, to invest in debt instruments issued by the Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara), namely Patriot Bond and Merah Putih Bond.

The invitation was made amid a debate on legal protection provisions for investors who purchase these instruments, as stipulated in the revision of the Law on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK).

"So, if you have a lot of money, get in there quickly. Like I said, 6 months I give you time to get in," Purbaya told the media, Tuesday, June 23.

Purbaya stated that investors with large funds should immediately take advantage of this investment opportunity.

According to Purbaya, investors who place their funds in Patriot Bond and Merah Putih Bond will receive special protection for the funds invested.

The government, he said, would not trace the origin of the funds used to buy the instruments, even though the source of the funds had previously come from activities that were not in accordance with the law.

However, he emphasized that this protection only applies to funds that have been invested, but the assets, companies, and other business activities owned by investors can still be inspected and processed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Purbaya also emphasized that this policy is different from the tax amnesty program, because if the tax amnesty provides a wider amnesty, then the protection on the Patriot Bond and the Red and White Bond is limited to funds placed in the instrument.

"But if he has all sorts of companies, he is usually inspected, but the money that goes into it (Patriot Bond) is safe," he said.

Responding to concerns that this policy could potentially open the door to money laundering practices, Purbaya argued that the move was aimed at attracting funds that had been outside the financial system to enter the national economy.

"Instead of the money being outside, let it enter the system, yes there is a little loss. But, in my opinion, it's easy, the money goes into our economy. We can use it to build," he explained.
