JAKARTA - PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) targets that the construction of flood control infrastructure in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Tapanuli area and its surroundings can be completed by the end of 2026.
To speed up the completion of the project, WIKA involved more than 150 local workers or about 90 percent of the total workforce in the field.
"The rehabilitation and reconstruction project for the Tapanuli area and its surroundings is targeted to be completed by the end of 2026," said WIKA Corporate Secretary Ngatemin, quoted from a written statement, Thursday, June 18.
The scope of WIKA's work includes river normalization excavations, reinforced concrete retaining wall work, and concrete dam work.
Currently, a number of works are underway in the field, such as casting the retaining wall structure, excavation of the Tukka River sabotage dam structure, and diversion of the Gala-Gala River.
To support the effectiveness of work implementation, WIKA also applies GNSS LiDAR-based measurement and mapping methods as well as aerial mapping through photogrammetry and LiDAR.
This technology makes it easier for construction workers to obtain visual and actual data faster and more accurately, so that the design process, field evaluation, and decision-making can be carried out more accurately.
"WIKA's involvement in this project is a form of the company's support for the PU Ministry's program to accelerate the recovery of disaster-affected areas through the construction of infrastructure that has direct benefits for the community," he said.
The construction of the sabo dam and river border protection is expected to contribute to reducing the risk of flash floods and sedimentation, as well as providing social benefits for the surrounding community.
"The presence of this river safety infrastructure is expected to provide better protection for people in Central Tapanuli and the surrounding areas," he concluded.
