JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (SODO) officially opened the permanent building of the Pharmacology Laboratory in its factory area located in Bergas, Semarang Regency, Central Java on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by the signing of an inscription by the Head of the Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency Prof. dr. Taruna Ikrar, M.Biomed., MD., Ph.D. The event was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the President Director of Sido Muncul Dr. (H.C.) Irwan Hidayat, Head of the Central Java Provincial Health Service dr. Zulfachmi Wahab, Sp.PD., Subsp. H.Onk.M.(K), FINASIM, and Deputy Regent of Semarang Dra. Hj. Nur Arifah.

The Sido Muncul Pharmacology Laboratory has actually been established since 2001 to support the development of product variations of the company. In response to the ever-growing research needs, the facility, which was initially located in a semi-permanent building in the back of the factory, was moved to a new building that is more representative and modern with an area of 288 square meters in 2019, then officially operated in full in January 2020.

Currently, laboratory operations are led by a veterinarian and strengthened by a team of researchers and laboratory personnel with experience in their fields.

For more than two decades, this facility has been a center for scientific testing such as acute toxicity tests, subchronic toxicity tests, teratogenic tests, stamina tests, and worm drug activity tests.

Irwan Hidayat said that his research facility is the first pharmacology laboratory managed by the herbal industry in Indonesia. Ahead of the company's 75th birthday, Sido Muncul is committed to focusing on deeper research so that local herbal herbal products are increasingly accepted by the public based on accountable scientific evidence.

"Not many herbal companies have a pharmacology laboratory. This is important to prove the safety and efficacy of the product. This labfar is the first pharmacology laboratory in the herbal industry.
