JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo found a number of problems in the temporary housing (huntara) built for victims of the landslide disaster in Padasari Village, Tegal Regency, Central Java.

This was revealed after Dody reviewed the location on Saturday, June 6, 2026. He revealed that there were still points of land that were not completely stable.

In fact, land movement occurred again at the end of the huntara area, which triggered cracks in a number of buildings.

"I saw that the huntara in Tegal still has problems. At the end, the ground is shaking again. So, there are still some places where the ground is not stable. So the building is a little cracked," said Dody as quoted from a written statement, Monday, June 8.

The findings are of concern to the PU Ministry because the huntara was built to accommodate residents affected by the landslide disaster that hit the area some time ago.

Even so, Dody ensured that the government would immediately carry out repairs to the affected building units.

The PU Ministry targets that the six huntara units that have been damaged can be inhabited again in the near future.

"Currently, it is still in the process of provisional hand over (PHO) or maintenance," he said.

He added that the repairs are expected to be completed in the next two days, so that residents can return to the residence safely and comfortably.

According to Dody, post-disaster handling is not only oriented towards physical development, but also must ensure long-term safety factors for people living in the area.

Therefore, the government will continue to carry out evaluations and technical studies on the soil conditions at the residential location to anticipate the risk of subsequent soil movement.

Currently, the huntara area built by the Ministry of PU has accommodated around 456 families.

The housing consists of 38 blocks, each containing 12 temporary housing units.

In addition to providing housing, the huntara area is also equipped with various supporting facilities.

Starting from the electricity network, clean water supply, mosques, community centers, health posts to mini soccer fields to support community social activities during the post-disaster recovery period.

The finding of cracks due to the ground moving again is a reminder that the challenge of handling disasters does not stop after the residence is built.

Land stability and long-term risk mitigation remain the main concerns that must be ensured so that affected residents can live safely.
