JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa assessed that the weakening of the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) and the rupiah exchange rate were influenced by negative perceptions or sentiments towards the national economic conditions that were not in accordance with the fundamental conditions of the Indonesian economy.

According to Purbaya, the current fundamental economic conditions of Indonesia are still maintained, as seen from the performance of the State Budget (APBN) which remains strong, while economic activity in various regions still shows positive growth.

"The main obstacle is the negative perception of our economy, which is not too true. Because our state budget is good, the economy is growing quite well. Until now, if we go anywhere, all economic activity is increasing. But when the perception says we want to be destroyed, all kinds of things, some people are affected," said Purbaya as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, June 6.

Purbaya emphasized that the government together with Bank Indonesia would strengthen coordination to eliminate negative perceptions that were developing in the market and strengthen investor confidence in the prospects of the national economy.

"That's what we will eliminate with closer cooperation with the central bank. Previously it was also close, we just got closer," he said.

Previously, Minister of Finance Purbaya reported that the realization of state expenditures until May 2026 reached Rp. 1,365.4 trillion or 35.5 percent of the 2026 state budget target of Rp. 3,842.7 trillion.

The realization grew 34.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

"State spending still grew 34.4 percent. Good, it means it is in line with the target, we always want to accelerate spending to reach Rp. 1,365.4 trillion," said Purbaya in a press conference on the APBN KiTa in Jakarta, Friday (5/6).

In detail, state spending consists of central government spending of Rp. 1,059.3 trillion or 33.6 percent of the APBN ceiling. The realization of central government spending grew 52.6 percent year-on-year.
