JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has entered into a strategic partnership with PT Starone Mitra Telekomunikasi (BDx Data Centers) in the development of electrical infrastructure with a total capacity of 1.2 gigawatt (GW) for the data center (data center) area based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital services in Indonesia.
The support includes the provision of electricity supply of 788 MVA for the CGK4 site in Jatiluhur, West Java in the initial phase, then continued with the strengthening of electrical capacity of 60 MVA for the CGK3A site in South Jakarta and the development of high voltage network of 385 MVA for the CGK5 site in Suryacipta, West Java.
PLN's Retail and Commercial Director, Adi Priyanto, emphasized PLN's readiness to support the growth of the data center industry in Indonesia through the availability of reliable electricity supply.
According to him, the energy needs of the data center sector, especially those based on AI, will continue to increase in line with the rapid national digital transformation.
"The growth of the data center industry in Indonesia, especially those based on AI, requires electrical support that is not only large in capacity, but also reliable and stable. We understand that energy certainty is the heart of this digital infrastructure. Therefore, PLN is ready to ensure that BDx Indonesia can expand optimally," said Adi, Tuesday, June 2.
The power distribution for the CGK4 site is planned to be carried out in three phases, namely Phase I of 2 x 150 MVA, Phase II increased to 2 x 265 MVA, until it reaches the final capacity of Phase III of 2 x 380 MVA.
To support the reliability of the supply, PLN also built the 150 kilovolt (kV) Jatiluhur Baru Substation (GI). Which will supply electricity to the BDx data center area.
"PLN has also prepared two special bay lines at the Substation to optimally serve the electricity needs of the CGK4 Site," added Adi.
Furthermore, Adi explained that the synergy between PLN and BDx Indonesia is a significant long-term partnership for national economic growth.
Not only Site CGK4, in this agreement PLN has also been entrusted to secure the power supply for other BDx Indonesia's main facilities, namely Site CGK3A in Cilandak, South Jakarta, and Site CGK5 in the Suryacipta industrial area.
"This synergy is not just about buying and selling electricity, but a strategic collaboration to encourage national economic growth through investment in the high technology sector. PLN continues to transform into a reliable partner for all digital investors in the country," explained Adi.
BDx Indonesia CEO, Agus Hartono Wijaya, expressed his appreciation to PLN for optimal service in supporting the operation of data center infrastructure which is synonymous with high-performance computing.
"We express our highest appreciation to PLN, which has been a strategic partner in supporting the operational reliability of BDx Indonesia's data center facilities," he said.
According to him, the reliability of the electricity system and the readiness of PLN infrastructure provide certainty for BDx in carrying out the development of data center capacity in Indonesia.
"Through this collaboration, we can build a robust infrastructure that is ready to support AI needs, while meeting the long-term demand of hyperscaler companies and sovereign digital workloads," said Agus.
