JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is building a Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) kitchen facility in Wirolegi Village, Jember Regency, East Java, to support the acceleration of the distribution of nutritious food to the community.

Its location close to Notohadinegoro Airport is considered strategic to support the smooth logistics and operational services.

The facility, which is part of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), is designed as a food production and distribution center with a capacity of up to 3,000 servings per distribution cycle.

The service reaches areas with a maximum distribution time of about 30 minutes from the operational location so that the quality of food is maintained and distribution runs efficiently.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that his party played a role in preparing supporting infrastructure facilities and infrastructure, especially in areas that have not been reached by private partnerships, including on the island of Java and in lagging, leading and outermost areas (3T).

"The synergy between the central and regional governments continues to be strengthened, including support for access to roads from the airport to the Wirolegi SPPG location by the Jember Regency Government, to ensure that distribution runs smoothly and the President's priority programs can be implemented optimally," said Dody in a written statement, Wednesday, May 6.

In terms of location, the SPPG Wirolegi is about 10.1 kilometers or 20 minutes from Notohadinegoro Airport, Jember Regency.

The proximity of access is considered to support the smooth distribution of logistics and operational mobility of nutritional fulfillment services.

In addition to supporting community services, the construction of the MBG Wirolegi kitchen is also projected to have an economic impact on residents around it through the absorption of around 50 operational workers.

The land for the construction of the facility belongs to the local government which is utilized through a lease scheme for five years.

The facility is equipped with various supporting facilities, such as the main building, drinking water installation, wastewater treatment installation (IPAL), temporary shelter (TPS) and other operational support facilities.

In the future, the management of the facility will be handed over to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to support the operational services of meeting people's nutrition.

According to Dody, the construction of infrastructure such as the MBG kitchen not only focuses on physical aspects, but also supports the improvement of the quality of basic public services, especially in the fulfillment of nutrition and the efficiency of food distribution.

"With the support of this infrastructure, it is expected that the community nutrition fulfillment service can run more effectively and support the smooth running of the government's priority programs in the food sector," he concluded.
