Bulog distributes 350,000 food packages on May Day, budget from the Ministry of Home Affairs

JAKARTA - The government distributed hundreds of thousands of food packages to workers in the commemoration of International Labor Day (May Day) 2026 at the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta.

The assistance was prepared by two SOEs, namely Perum Bulog and ID FOOD.

Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, said his party had prepared as many as 350,000 food packages.

However, he emphasized that the budget for procurement of assistance came from the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg).

For information, the distribution of food packages is carried out using more than 60 trucks. Since the morning, the trucks were surrounded by thousands of workers who crowded the Monas area. They were very enthusiastic to run to get the assistance package.

"That's from the Setneg (budget), we Bulog only prepare (the food package requested)," said Rizal at Monas, Central Jakarta, Thursday, May 1.

Rizal explained that one person was only allowed to take one pack of basic necessities. To ensure that the distribution runs smoothly, recipients are required to dip their fingers into purple ink as a sign that they have received assistance.

"Per one bag, that is one package. And the provision is that every worker who will take the food package must have his hand put in ink like this," he said.

The food package is packaged in a blue and white spunbond bag with the logo of the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Indonesia.

The contents include premium rice weighing 2.5 kilograms (kg), 1 kg of sugar, three bags of coffee, two bags of margarine, one pouch of condensed milk, one can of sardines, and one box of tea bags.

Furthermore, Rizal revealed that the value of one pack of basic necessities is estimated to reach around Rp350,000.

"If this assistance is calculated, it is approximately Rp350,000," he said.
