JAKARTA - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli emphasized that the government continues to strengthen the state's presence in providing protection for workers affected by layoffs (PHK) through the Job Loss Guarantee (JKP) program.

He said that this program not only accompanies workers when they lose their jobs, but also accompanies them when they face a transition period to return to the labor market.

"The state must be present when workers face difficult times. The JKP program is proof that worker protection does not stop when the employment relationship ends, but continues through real support so that they can immediately return to work," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 30.

According to Yassierli, strengthening the JKP is very relevant in the midst of the fast-paced dynamics of the world of work.

Technological transformation to industrial structure adjustment is considered to require a protection system that is able to provide certainty and help workers get back on their feet.

Furthermore, the Minister of Home Affairs explained that the JKP was designed as a social cushion to maintain the economic stability of the workers' families during the period of searching for new jobs.

Through this program, participants are entitled to receive cash benefits of 60 percent of wages for a maximum of six months, with a maximum wage as the basis for calculation of Rp5 million.

In addition to cash assistance, participants also have access to comprehensive employment services, including job vacancy information, career guidance, competency assessment, to employment counseling so that participants can be absorbed in the labor market more quickly.

To increase the competitiveness of the workforce, JKP participants also benefit from job training with a unit cost of IDR 2.4 million.

This facility is intended to update skills (reskilling) or improve skills (upskilling) to match the current industry needs.

In line with this, the Ministry of Manpower continues to optimize the SIAPKerja platform as a means of integrated digital employment services.

Through this platform, the public can access vocational training, career services, and job vacancy information more easily and transparently.

Yassierli emphasized that social protection must go hand in hand with improving the quality of human resources.

According to him, Indonesian workers must be prepared to remain adaptive and resilient in the midst of economic and technological changes.

To support the effectiveness of the program, the government reminded companies to register their employees in the employment social security program.

This compliance is crucial so that workers' rights to get full protection are maintained when they lose their jobs.

The government also continues to strengthen synergies with BPJS Employment, regional employment services, and employment training partners to ensure that JKP services run quickly, accurately, and are easily accessible to all levels of society.
