JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) encourages the acceleration of the construction of the Tahap II People's School so that all projects can be completed by June 2026.

Thus, the educational facilities are ready to be used when the new school year begins in July.

"The construction of all the Phase II People's Schools must be ensured to be completed in June, before the start of the new school year in July," said Minister of PU Dody Hanggodo as quoted from a written statement, Tuesday, April 28.

The construction of the People's School Phase II is carried out in 104 locations spread across 32 provinces and 102 regencies/cities throughout Indonesia.

The program is targeted to have a capacity of up to 112,320 students in 3,744 study groups (rombel).

Dody also highlighted a number of construction sites in various regions of Indonesia to ensure that the acceleration of work is in accordance with the target.

He encouraged the acceleration of the completion of various technical obstacles in the field, ranging from construction access, material mobilization, labor needs to the readiness of supporting infrastructure.

The Democratic Party politician emphasized the importance of maintaining the quality of development in the midst of accelerating projects. Dody asked that all aspects, both materials and building structures, meet the standards that have been set.

"Continue to prioritize quality in its development, both in terms of materials and the structure of the building, because this school building must be able to survive for a minimum of 20 years," he said.

In addition, Dody also encouraged all State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Karya to strengthen synergy with the PU Ministry, especially the Strategic Infrastructure Directorate General and local governments so that construction can be completed on time.

The Ministry of PU is optimistic that the acceleration of the construction of the Second Phase of the People's School will expand access to quality education while supporting the equitable distribution of education services in various regions.
