JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has signed a number of Power Purchase Agreements (PJBTL) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Integrated Business Solutions to encourage the electrification of mine operations.
The cooperation marked by PJBTL and this MoU was carried out with PT Trubaindo Coal Mining for 30 MVA, PT Sembada Makmur Sejahtera for 55 MVA, PT Marga Bara Jaya for 35 MVA, PT Maruwai Coal for 71 MVA, PT Makmur Sejahtera Wisesa for 106 MVA, and PT Berau Coal for 29 MVA.
Meanwhile, for Integrated Bussines Solution, PLN through its subsidiaries has collaborated with a number of companies, including PT Masmindo Dwi Area, for the Construction of Installation and customer substations, PT Maruwai Coal with the work of Construction of Customer-owned Installation, and PT Sembada Makmur Sejahtera with the work of Engineering Design and construction of high-voltage installations.
Director of Retail and Commerce of PT PLN (Persero), Adi Priyanto said, this collaboration is a concrete step for PLN to support the implementation of green mining through the use of cleaner, efficient, and reliable electric energy to support the electrification of heavy equipment in mining.
"The development of green mining in the mining sector is one of the strategic solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while ensuring the sustainability of the coal industry in the future," said Adi, Tuesday, April 21.
According to Adi, PLN is ready to provide full support for all industrial actors through various innovative services that are tailored to the characteristics of the needs of the mine.
"This forum is an opportunity to identify the potential for growth in electricity demand for the mining sector, determine the optimal limits of PLN services, and formulate strategies for managing electricity assets after the mine's life," said Adi.
Looking at the technical operational side, Executive Vice President of Sales and Customer Service of PLN Enterprise, Dini Sulistyawati, identified that the critical point of energy consumption was at the stage of transporting mine products.
"Therefore, the use of electricity-based clean energy in this hauling process is one of the concrete steps for how we can increase operational efficiency while also reducing emissions," said Dini.
Responding to the collaboration, the Chairman of the Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI), Priyadi, welcomed this synergy as a joint effort to shorten the supply chain of imported fossil energy for the sustainability of the industry.
"Well this is a good opportunity, both for us coal producers and PLN as the provider of the strum. So that this happens, the most beneficial symbiosis of mutualism," added Priyadi.
Positive responses were also conveyed by PLN customers, PT Borneo Indobara (BIB) as users of PLN services for green mining. Division Head Project Expansion PT Borneo Indobara, Adi Supriyatna, said that electrification was the company's strategic step in responding to the challenges of climate change as well as the pressure of fuel price fluctuations.
"The electrification of PT Borneo Indobara is a strategic step towards green mining to respond to the threat of climate change and the trend of rising fuel prices. This transition is supported by the massive construction of electricity infrastructure together with PLN to operate various electric heavy equipment and charging stations for 700 units of electric trucks," he concluded.
