JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is carrying out the replacement of the Old Manyar Bridge in Gresik Regency, East Java, with a target completion in August 2026.
This step was taken to improve the safety and reliability of national road infrastructure.
The replacement of the bridge was carried out following a decrease in the condition of the structure which could potentially affect the safety and comfort of road users.
This handling is a preventive measure to ensure that connectivity is maintained on one of the strategic routes in East Java.
Minister PU Dody Hanggodo emphasized that road and bridge connectivity is a vital infrastructure that must always be in reliable and safe condition for the community.
"Road and bridge connectivity is the lifeblood of people's lives and the regional economy," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Thursday, April 16.
The work to replace the bridge has an effective length of around 80 meters and is financed through the State Budget (APBN) for the 2026 Fiscal Year with a contract value of Rp. 29.6 billion.
The construction was carried out by the East Java-Bali National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN), with the contractor PT Tri Jaya Cipta Makmur and the supervision of consultant PT Aria Jasa Reksatama.
The implementation time of the work is planned for 210 calendar days with a maintenance period of 365 calendar days.
The project is targeted to be completed and handed over in early September 2026, with a maintenance period until August 30, 2027.
As the work progresses, the Old Manyar Bridge is closed to traffic from April 1, 2026 to August 31, 2026 to support the process of dismantling and replacing the steel frame in its entirety.
As an alternative, traffic flows are diverted to the Manyar Baru Bridge with a two-way scheme. Traffic arrangements have been prepared from Gresik and Lamongan directions to ensure that community mobility continues to run safely and smoothly during the construction period.
The PU Ministry appeals to road users to be careful, regulate speed and comply with signs and instructions from officers in the field, to maintain safety and smoothness during the project.
