JAKARTA - PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BBTN) recorded the value of credit restructuring of customers affected by the Sumatra disaster reaching IDR 550 billion.

This number is an accumulation of Aceh, West Sumatra and North Sumatra provinces.

BTN President Director, Nixon LP Napitupulu, said the restructuring pattern applied was in the form of a 1-year payment relief for affected customers.

"Around Rp530 billion to Rp550 billion," said Nixon at the I/2026 Quarter Performance Exposure Press Conference, Wednesday, April 15.

He explained that the reason for the one-year grace period was because when this rule was made, his party could not predict when the conditions on the ground would improve. Moreover, he continued, there were several disaster locations that were even difficult to reach.

"This time we make, we can't read this will be finished in 1 month, 6 months, or 9 months. It's called if it's like that on the ground, what else can you do," continued Nixon.

Nixon also emphasized that his party has not been able to estimate the impact of the Sumatra disaster on the quality of the company's credit portfolio.

According to him, his party is still seeing post-disaster recovery in the field.

However, there are several regions such as North Sumatra and West Sumatra that have started to improve compared to Aceh.

"I think we can only see it before a year. We will recalculate again which ones cannot be extended because they have recovered, which ones can still continue," said Nixon.

Present at the same opportunity, BTN Consumer Banking Director Hirwandi Gafar said that most of the restructuring was given to subsidized Home Ownership Credit (KPR) customers.

However, he ensured that this restructuring was given with reference to the rules set by the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

"Indeed, for a year we have given flexibility in installment payments. And this we also refer to the OJK rules, so it is not only BTN's own initiative but there is also the OJK legal umbrella," he explained.

According to Hirwandi, with different levels of damage, the recovery of disasters in each region has different levels of speed with Aceh which is the region with the worst level of damage.

So, he continued, Aceh needs a long time to repair infrastructure and post-disaster recovery.

"It takes quite some time for them to clean up the infrastructure so that the flow of people to try is also smoother.

For information, the credit relaxation is carried out based on the Financial Services Authority Regulation (POJK) Number 19 of 2022 concerning Special Treatment for Financial Service Institutions in Certain Regions and Sectors Affected by Disasters.
