JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) has facilitated 1,346 UMKM certifications throughout the period of January-March 2026 as an effort to strengthen competitiveness and open access to the modern retail sector.

Vice President of Corporate Communication Pertamina Muhammad Baron said that the certification program implemented in various regions in Indonesia includes, among others, the business registration number (NIB), halal, intellectual property rights, and a statement of the ability to manage and monitor the environment (SPPL).

"This program is part of Pertamina's commitment to encourage economic equality based on MSMEs, as well as strengthening the business foundation of MSMEs so that they are more ready to penetrate wider markets, including competing in an increasingly competitive industrial ecosystem," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 9.

Baron said that the facilitation of certification is a strategic step to increase the credibility and market confidence in UMKM products.

"Pertamina is committed to continue to encourage MSMEs to rise through comprehensive assistance, including certification facilitation. Certification is not just a formality, but a gateway for MSMEs to expand market access, improve competitiveness, and meet the needs of increasingly selective consumers," he added.

Baron gave an example of the Innovation Partner UMKM Sudjarwo (MiniesQ brand) from Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, Banten, which is engaged in the field of healthy food, managed to obtain a halal certificate for its flagship products in the form of healthy cookies, brownies, and oat-based snacks.

The UMKM was established in 2022 by Minie Sudjarwo, a former national athlete, who has 16 years of experience as a body builder instructor.

"Public awareness of healthy lifestyles is both an opportunity and a challenge. We want to present healthy, practical, and still tasty products," he said.

Minie added that after obtaining halal certification, market confidence increased and opened up opportunities for cooperation with 20 minimarkets and 1 supermarket in Jakarta for the distribution of brownies and oat products.

Baron added that the success of these MSMEs shows that certification is not only an administrative aspect, but also a key in increasing market access and consumer confidence.

"Pertamina is committed to empowering MSMEs as part of sustainable creation of shared value (creating shared value) for the community," he said.
