JAKARTA - The State-Owned Enterprises Management Agency has begun to encourage massive consolidation in the state-owned enterprises. Head of BP BUMN Dony Oskaria said 15 state-owned logistics companies are being processed to be merged into one national logistics company.

This step, according to Dony, is part of the restructuring of SOEs that the government is rushing. The goal is clear: to unite assets and businesses that have been spread out so that they are more competitive.

"Insyaallah also within a month we will announce 15 companies to become one of our national logistics companies," Dony told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 7.

Apart from logistics, BP BUMN is also combining four asset management entities that are considered to be not strong enough to compete. This consolidation is carried out amid the spotlight on the acquisition and restructuring of SOEs assets.

In the transportation sector, Dony emphasized that Whoosh's operations remained in the hands of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). According to Dony, KAI still remains the operator because its business is in the railway sector.

He also revealed another agenda that is being prepared this year, namely the electrification of the Jakarta-Rangkas, Jakarta-Cikampek, and Jakarta-Sukabumi lines. This investment is said to strengthen the railway as a mainstay mass transit in the future.

"This train will certainly become our flagship mass transportation in the future," he said.

According to Dony, the railway company must be made healthy so that it can provide good public services. Therefore, the improvement of the funding structure and business consolidation cannot be delayed any longer.

Regarding the impact of the war on SOEs, Dony said that so far the direct impact has not been too felt, except for Pertamina. In the airport sector, there has been a decrease in traffic due to the suspension of a number of flights to the Middle East region, but according to him, the impact has not been significant on the performance of the airport.
