OJK Continues to Warn Against Illegal Lending and Ponzi Investments

KOTA JAMBI - The rampant illegal online loans (pinjol) and bogus investments that have occurred in the past year have become a serious concern for the Jambi Provincial Financial Services Authority (OJK).

The Head of the Jambi Provincial OJK, Yan Iswara Rosya in Jambi, Saturday, urged the public to be more careful in choosing financial services by always applying the principles of legality and logic (2L).

This means it is important to ensure legality and assess reasonableness or logic before conducting financial transactions.

"We invite the public to ensure that entities or applications have legally obtained official permits from the OJK before using them, while logically being reminded not to be easily tempted by low interest rates without conditions or high profits in a short time," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, April 4.

The appeal was made in response to the high number of public complaints received through the OJK Illegal Financial Activities Eradication Task Force (Satgas PASTI).

The OJK PASTI Task Force is a coordination forum between institutions tasked with preventing and handling unlicensed business activities in the financial sector, in order to protect the public's interests and maintain the stability of the financial system.

Based on data from the OJK PASTI Task Force from January 2025 to January 2026, a total of 198 reports of illegal online loans were recorded in Jambi Province.

The data shows that there is still a wide access for the public to unofficial loan services, which has the potential to harm the economic condition of residents.

"False investment is also still a serious threat, with 71 reports coming through the OJK's Illegal Financial Activities Eradication Information System (SIPASTI) complaint channel in the same period," he said.

Although the number of reports is less, he said, the losses suffered by the victims are generally larger because they involve significant funds.

People who find suspicious financial activity or experience losses are expected to immediately report through the OJK service at number 157 or the official SIPASTI channel.
