JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) recorded a surge in the use of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) up to 4.14 times during the Ramadan and Idulfitri (RAFI) 1447 H standby period.
In detail, the frequency of charging in the period 12-31 March 2026 reached 303,234 transactions, an increase from 73,161 transactions in the same period last year. Meanwhile, electricity consumption was recorded at 7.16 million kilowatt hours (kWh), an increase from 1.75 million kWh in 2025.
"The surge in the use of SPKLU during RAFI is an indicator of the increasing public confidence in electric vehicles. This is inseparable from the readiness of infrastructure and services that we present optimally during the homecoming period," said PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, Thursday, April 2.
He added, PLN together with partners has presented 4,769 SPKLU units in 3,097 points throughout Indonesia, with an average distance between SPKLU of around 22 kilometers. Especially on the main Trans Sumatra, Java, and Bali homecoming routes, PLN provides 1,681 SPKLU units in 994 points, an increase of around 70 percent compared to last year's Eid al-Fitr.
To anticipate emergency needs, PLN also activated 15 SPKLU Mobile units in strategic points, especially in the toll exit area, which were supported by thousands of standby personnel.
In addition to adding infrastructure, PLN also improves service quality through the modernization of charging technology. Several SPKLU with high usage rates have been upgraded from standard charging to fast charging to ultra fast charging so that the charging process becomes faster.
This service enhancement is also supported by the development of a digital ecosystem through the Electric Vehicle Digital Services (EVDS) feature on the PLN Mobile application which makes it easier for users to access SPKLU services in an integrated manner.
PLN also presents the Trip Planner feature to help users plan a trip with information on SPKLU locations and connector availability, as well as the AntreEV feature which allows for real-time queue monitoring.
In addition, PLN provides ease of transaction through the EV-TAP electronic payment system available at a number of SPKLU on the Trans Java homecoming line so that the charging process becomes faster, practical, and without obstacles.
"We will continue to strengthen the infrastructure and services of electric vehicles so that the public will be more comfortable switching to clean energy," concluded Darmawan.
