JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto discussed strengthening productivity cooperation with Australia, ranging from the implementation of e-Government, the development of adaptive labor, to national recommendations on artificial intelligence or AI.
This was discussed by Airlangga when receiving the Chair of the Australian Productivity Commission Danielle Wood and the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Roderick Brazier in Jakarta, Friday, March 27. The meeting also highlighted the strengthening of human resources and the economic resilience of Indonesia-Australia in the midst of global pressure.
"What needs to be emphasized is that in the midst of challenging global dynamics, Indonesia focuses on strengthening the movement to increase productivity which goes hand in hand with the implementation of efficiency to encourage sustainable economic growth," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
One of the agendas that was encouraged was the implementation of government policy studies related to the implementation of e-Government. According to Airlangga, this step has the potential to boost productivity, including when the efficiency policy is running.
Airlangga also expressed support for the continuation of the PROSPERA program. In the second phase of the program, the Indonesian Government welcomes the involvement of the Australian Productivity Commission to provide evidence-based policy recommendations to support policy reforms and increase national productivity.
"Under the PROSPERA Phase II framework, the Australian Productivity Commission is expected to conduct research related to the development of a workforce that is adaptive to technological advances. In addition, the preparation of national recommendations regarding the use of artificial intelligence in Indonesia is one of the important aspects that need to be considered," said Airlangga.
He also highlighted tax reform as a national priority agenda and hoped that the issue would be included in the focus of PROSPERA Phase II.
Meanwhile, Danielle Wood stated that Australia was ready to strengthen cooperation to increase the capacity of the public service sector to encourage productivity, investment, and sustainable economic growth.
At the end of the meeting, Brazier reiterated the support of the Australian Government for Indonesia's accession process to the OECD and CPTPP.
