KAI sells 4.6 million tickets for Eid 2026, exceeds capacity by 102.3 percent

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has recorded that the sale of tickets for the 2026 Lebaran Transportation has reached 4.6 million tickets as of Friday, March 27 at 10.00 WIB.

This figure is equivalent to 102.3 percent of the total capacity provided of 4.49 million seats during the Lebaran transportation period this year.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said the spike in ticket sales occurred as people's mobility increased during the return flow phase.

"Train travel has continued to increase since mid-March and is currently in the reverse flow phase. Trains are chosen because they are comfortable, scheduled, and provide certainty of travel," said Anne.

KAI data shows that daily customer volume is at a high level in four consecutive days.

On March 22, the number of customers reached 242,810 people, increasing to 247,025 customers on March 23 and reaching a peak of 250,650 customers on March 24.

The figure surpassed last year's record high daily volume of 223,348 long-distance train customers.

In detail, the long-distance train tickets sold reached 3,896,661 or 109.1 percent of the capacity of 3,571,760 seats.

Meanwhile, local train tickets were sold at 703,518 or 75.9 percent of the capacity of 926,936 seats.

Throughout the period from March 11-26, 2026, KAI has served 3,678,880 customers on Java and Sumatra.

The number consists of 3,081,467 long-distance train customers and 597,413 local train customers.

KAI noted that the daily occupancy trend gradually increased until it reached its peak on March 24 and still remained high until March 26.

Entering March 27, KAI recorded 190,572 customers who had been scheduled to depart with a temporary occupancy rate of 116.6 percent.

Anne explained that the occupancy of more than 100 percent occurred because one seat can be used by more than one customer on a different travel relationship.

To provide alternative travel for the public, KAI presents a "Silaturahmi" promo in the form of a 20 percent discount on tickets for executive class with a purchase and departure period of March 25 to April 1, 2026.
