JAKARTA - Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, has confirmed that the deadline for reporting the Annual Notification Letter (SPT) for the 2025 Tax Year for individual taxpayers has been extended until the end of April 2026.

Previously, the reporting deadline was set until the end of March 2026.

This extension was carried out in response to various technical obstacles that are still faced by some taxpayers, especially related to the implementation of the Coretax system.

"There is (an extension for reporting personal income tax returns) one month, enough one month, right? Because there is a possibility that the coretax will mutate (error). Some people experience this. Okay, we will extend it if necessary," he said in a media briefing, Wednesday, March 25.

He emphasized that this policy is final and will soon be included in the official government regulations.

"Fix the extension so that it ends in April 2025. Later, a written regulation will be made. Let the Secretary-General make it (the extension regulation for reporting the Personal Income Tax)," he explained.

Furthermore, Purbaya revealed that the problem with Coretax was not only caused by technical factors, but also related to the initial design of the system which was considered less optimal.

In addition, he highlighted the existence of third parties that provide a connecting service between Coretax and certain users.

According to him, this actually creates access inequality because some users are more advantaged than others.

"Apparently one of the weaknesses is that you know there are software services or applications that connect Coretex with customers? It's fast if you use it. So I suspect that Coretex here is made messy," he said.

In the future, he said the government plans to carry out a thorough renovation, including eliminating dependence on external vendors and improving the system interface so that it is easier for the public to access directly.

"Later we will lose it. We will interface to the public. But now it is tight for this one. So there is something like that," he said.

On the other hand, based on data from the Directorate General of Taxes, it was recorded that as of March 24, 2026 at 24.00 WIB, the number of annual income tax (PPh) tax returns for the 2025 tax year had reached 8,874,904 reports.

Of the total, the majority came from 7,826,341 personal income tax returns for employees, followed by 863,272 personal income tax returns for non-employees.

Meanwhile, the tax payers of the body recorded 183,583 tax returns in rupiah and 138 tax returns in US dollars.

For taxpayers with different fiscal years, the number of reports is still relatively small, namely 1,549 body tax returns in rupiah and 21 tax returns in US dollars.

As for the use of the system, up to the same period, a total of 16,723,354 taxpayers have activated the Coretax account, with the majority coming from individual taxpayers with 15,677,209 accounts.
