JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to accelerate the construction of the People's School Phase II which is carried out in 104 locations throughout Indonesia as part of efforts to support equitable access to education and improve the quality of human resources.
This program covers 32 provinces and 102 regencies/cities, with a target capacity of 112,320 students in 3,744 study groups.
Minister PU Dody Hanggodo explained that as of March 22, 2026, the national development progress had reached 15.54 percent, in line with the acceleration of construction work in the field, land completion, and strengthening coordination between the central and regional governments.
"The construction of this People's School is a tangible form of the government's commitment to building superior human resources. The PU Ministry wants to ensure that these educational facilities are built quickly and with quality," said Dody, Monday, March 23.
The People's School Phase II is permanently built on an area of 5-10 hectares prepared by the local government. Each location is designed as an integrated educational area equipped with technology-based classrooms, skill laboratories, libraries, digital learning centers, student and teacher dormitories, and various supporting facilities such as healthy canteens, clinics, sports fields, extracurricular spaces, and green open spaces.
The PU Ministry also continues to encourage the resolution of various technical obstacles in the field, ranging from construction access, material mobilization, to the readiness of supporting infrastructure, to ensure that all projects can run according to target.
As an example, the construction of the Tahap II People's School in Central Java Province, which is spread across 11 locations, also continues to show progress in implementation in the field as construction work accelerates.
The construction location includes two implementation areas, namely Central Java 1 which includes Banyumas Regency, Cilacap, Brebes, Wonosobo, and Temanggung, and Central Java 2 which includes Jepara Regency, Pati, Rembang, Sragen, Sukoharjo, and Semarang City.
