JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) signed a Cooperation Work Agreement (KSO) with the Sumenep Regency Government to utilize two PLTS with a capacity of 1 megawatt peak (MWp). This plant is equipped with a Battery Energy Storage System with a capacity of 4 megawatt hour (MWh) as a grant from the Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation.
Watched live by Danantara Indonesia's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, said the utilization of grants at these two locations will be a pilot project that is expected to have a real impact by providing electricity for thousands of families in Sumenep Regency.
"It will have an impact (give light) to 2,000 families in the two areas, namely in Gili Labak Village and also in Pagerungan Kecil Village because each of them is 1 MW. So coincidentally this will be a pilot and hopefully this can be realized soon," said Rosan, Monday, March 16.
Previously, residents of Gili Labak Village, Kombang Village, Talango District used a personal generator to turn on lights and electronics in their homes.
Meanwhile, for residents of Pagerungan Kecil Village, Sapeken District, this grant PLTS will add to the electricity supply which is currently supported by a PLN PLTS with a capacity of 50 kilowatts peak (kWp) after previously 2 units of Village Owned Business Entities (BUMDes) with a total capacity of 600 kilovolt ampere (kVA) were not operating.
In detail, this grant includes two PLTS units with a capacity of 1 MWp each equipped with a 4 MWh capacity BESS. The installation that will be built is projected to supply electricity to residents for 24 hours and has the potential to save 1.1 million liters of fuel oil per year.
Head of the Torang IWIP Berbakti Foundation, Wahyu Budhi Santoso explained that the grant of PLTS plus BESS to Sumenep Regency is part of the commitment of his party in supporting the government's program to expand access to energy for people in various regions of Indonesia.
"We hope that after this MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) is signed, we can get directions so that the implementation of this project can run smoothly. We hope that the installation can contribute well to the welfare of the community," said Wahyu.
The Regent of Sumenep, Achmad Fauzi Wongsojudo, expressed his appreciation to all parties who have contributed to efforts to improve access to electricity in his region. He explained that Sumenep Regency is an archipelago with a total of 126 islands, of which 48 islands are inhabited and have their own geographical challenges in providing electricity infrastructure.
"Of course, with the existence of the grant plan that will be submitted to Sumenep Regency, we express our deepest gratitude. Because this is very important for us in order to continue to encourage the electrification to increase, so that it can be enjoyed by the people in Sumenep Regency, especially to the President, Danantara Indonesia including PT PLN (Persero)," said Achmad.
