JAKARTA - I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport will temporarily stop flight operations and air services for 24 hours in order to carry out Nyepi Day in the Saka 1948 Year.
This closure is a form of the airport's commitment to respecting and supporting the implementation of the holy day of Hindus on the island of Bali.
General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Nugroho Jati explained that the suspension of operations was carried out based on a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by AirNav Indonesia.
"In accordance with the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) number A0096 issued by Perum LPPNPI/AirNav Indonesia, all regular commercial flight activities at the airport will be stopped starting Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 06.00 WITA until Friday, March 20, 2026 at 06.00 WITA. The airline has also informed passengers of the adjustment to the flight schedule.
"The temporary suspension of airport operations during Nyepi has been routinely carried out every year, so that Hindus on the island of Bali can carry out the series of Catur Brata Penyepian with diligence. We have coordinated with all stakeholders to ensure that services to service users continue to run optimally before and after the period of suspension of operations," he continued.
