JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has asked that preservation or repair work on toll roads be temporarily suspended from today, March 11, 2026 to April 1. This needs to be done to support the smooth flow of the 2026 Eid homecoming and return.
This was conveyed by Minister PU Dody Hanggodo in the Working Meeting (Raker) of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives discussing the readiness of infrastructure and transportation services ahead of the 2026 Eid homecoming at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 11.
"So that the homecoming and homecoming flows smoothly, for a while all construction, preservation and repair of other toll roads will be stopped starting from March 11, 2026 until April 1, 2026," said Dody.
However, Dody said, for emergency toll road repair work will still be carried out until Friday, March 13. For example, such as repairs on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road section, which is still being carried out.
"Except for emergencies such as the road from Jakarta to Merak, we ask for permission to still do the work until March 13, 2026," he said.
Dody did not deny, there are still several toll roads that are still being repaired until now.
The holes or damage on the toll road only emerged as a result of the high intensity of rain recently.
"There are several toll roads that are still carrying out emergency repair or patching work, which is a follow-up to handling new holes due to high rainfall recently," he said.
Until now, said Dody, there are still repair works on 25 toll road sections.
He targeted that the repair work could be completed in the near future.
"The repair work is on 25 toll roads and is targeted to be completed by no later than March 13, 2026," said Dody.
To ensure the smooth flow of the Lebaran homecoming, the PU Ministry also implements strategies and policies, namely ensuring the fulfillment of the Minimum Service Standard (SPM), improving toll road services, functionalizing additional toll roads without tariffs, and coordinating with related ministries/institutions.
Meanwhile, to anticipate the accumulation of vehicles heading to Merak and Bakauheni ports, the Ministry of PU has coordinated with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) to prepare a buffer zone at a number of toll rest areas, such as the Tangerang-Merak toll road and the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar toll road.
"This policy aims to break down the queue of vehicles to the port and maintain the smooth flow of traffic on the toll road," he explained.
