JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) revealed that it had handled 85,466 hole points throughout the national road network ahead of the 2026 Lebaran homecoming.
The total number of holes in the national road network reached 89,468 points.
This was conveyed by Minister PU Dody Hanggodo in the Working Meeting (Raker) of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives discussing the readiness of infrastructure and transportation services ahead of the 2026 Eid homecoming at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 11.
"On the national road network, currently there are approximately 89,468 total hole points, of which, alhamdulilah, 85,466 hole points or about 95.52 percent have been handled," said Dody.
Not only dealing with potholes, the PU Ministry also carried out grass trimming activities on around 35,202 kilometers of the national road network.
"In addition, grass trimming activities have been carried out on approximately 35,202.86 kilometers of roads out of a total of 43,536.68 kilometers of roads or approximately 80.9 percent of the maintenance target," he said.
Dody said that construction project work around the road benefit area was stopped from H-10 Lebaran to H+10 Lebaran in the future.
"However, patching work, patching-patching will still be carried out if there are new holes during the Lebaran homecoming period, especially in the uncertain weather conditions today," he explained.
He added that monitoring the road quality condition will be carried out on each segment of the road by a number of road monitoring officers, to ensure that repairs can be carried out immediately.
"During the Lebaran homecoming period, the road inspectors will be responsible for ensuring that there are no new holes in the sections that are monitored, with a range of approximately 10 kilometers per road inspector," explained Dody.
To maintain the smooth flow of the Lebaran homecoming and return, continued Dody, his party also carried out various preservation work on national roads.
Covering pavement overlays, patching potholes and repairing bridge connections, which are targeted to be completed by March 11, 2026.
"In addition, road cleaning, grass trimming, and drainage normalization are also carried out so that the function of the road remains optimal during the homecoming period," said Dody.
Currently, the length of non-toll national roads in Indonesia reaches 47,603.39 kilometers.
Of the total length, the level of national road strength is in the range of 93.50 percent.
"This figure shows that most of the national road network is in a stable condition," concluded Dody.
