JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed the fate of two oil tankers owned by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) which are still in the Arabian Gulf.

Both tankers have not been able to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, following the escalation of the conflict between Iran and the United States (US)-Israel.

Bahlil said that while the government and Pertamina were still negotiating for the two ships to escape the Middle East conflict area.

"It is still under negotiation. God willing, soon, pray, soon it will be finished," Bahlil told the media at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Tuesday, March 10.

He added that these two Pertamina ships were crude oil carriers. However, he did not disclose further information regarding the volume of the ship's cargo.

"Crude. Oil. Crude oil yes," he added.

Meanwhile, the Acting Corporate Secretary of Pertamina International Shipping, Vega Pita, said that of the four vessels owned by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) operating in the Middle East region, two vessels have been recorded as having moved away from the conflict area, namely the PIS Rinjani and PIS Paragon vessels.

Currently, there are 2 units of ships that are still operating in the Middle East region, namely the VLCC Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro which are in the Arabian Gulf.

"These ships are waiting for a safe situation to be able to exit through the Strait of Hormuz. Both are in a safe condition," Vega said when contacted, Tuesday, March 10.

Vega said the Gamsunoro ship serves cargo belonging to third party consumers.

Meanwhile, the Pertamina Pride VLCC is on a mission to transport crude oil supplies to meet domestic energy needs.

Apart from these ships, the supply chain and distribution of energy remain solid, both in international waters and Indonesian waters, supported by at least 345 ship fleets under the management of other Pertamina Group entities.

"In coordination with the government, the Pertamina Group applies the Regular, Alternative and Emergency methods in determining the most effective and safe supply chain method to meet the energy needs of the community and ensure that distribution runs smoothly," said Vega.
