JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo admitted that he was called by President Prabowo Subianto after two directors general (dirjen) in his ministry resigned.
The two dirjen in question are the Director General of Construction Dewi Chomistriana and the Director General of Water Resources (SDA) Dwi Purwantoro. Currently, the process of changing the position of the I-level is in the administrative completion stage.
"The President himself has called to give his support directly to me, a few days ago when I was in West Sumatra, the President directly called," said Dody at the PU Ministry's office, Jakarta, Friday, March 6.
Dody explained that the two directors general were suspected of committing serious disciplinary violations. The form of the violation is diverse, ranging from alleged gratification to personal problems investigated by the Inspector General (Itjen).
However, at the first examination, the two officials chose to resign. The decision was taken before the minister imposed a sanction of release from duty or dismissal with disgrace by the President.
"At the first examination, they chose to resign rather than me being free to assign, or dismissed with disrespect by the President," he said.
The resignation of the two directors general has been reported by Dody to Prabowo, both orally and in writing. Dody said he had stopped by the side of the toll road during a working visit to West Sumatra because he had received a direct call from the President.
In the conversation, Prabowo asked that the clean-up efforts at the PU Ministry continue. The Head of State instructed that the ministry's performance should no longer have budget leakage gaps in infrastructure projects.
"The President called and gave his appreciation. He thanked me and asked me to continue to work on this clean-up and make the PU Ministry even cleaner," said Dody.
He revealed that the findings of the Financial Audit Agency (BPK) were worth Rp. 1 trillion. Therefore, he is committed to completing the problem as soon as possible. Although the ministry only received a physical letter from the BPK on March 3, 2026.
"The focus now is how we can settle the Rp1 trillion as quickly as possible, indeed given the time by the BPK for 60 days. The problem is that we only received the letter yesterday, March 3, although the letter is dated August 2025," he explained.
