JAKARTA - LPDP President Director Sudarto emphasized the importance of moral and national responsibility for all LPDP scholarship recipients, considering that the education funds managed by the institution come from public taxes.

This statement was made following a controversy that emerged in the public space regarding one of the LPDP alumni, Dwi Sasetyaningtyas, who triggered a discourse on nationalism after uploading information on his child's British citizenship status.

Public attention then turned to her husband, Arya Pamungkas, regarding the alleged fulfillment of post-education service obligations.

Sudarto said that the permanent education fund managed by the LPDP is a strategic instrument for the country to invest in long-term human resources.

Therefore, public trust is the main foundation of the program's sustainability.

"LPDP was formed and continues to run because of public trust. This fund is the people's money," he said in a press conference, Wednesday, February 25.

Sudarto said that the sustainability of the LPDP depends heavily on public trust and that the government-managed education endowment fund is a long-term investment that must have a real impact on Indonesia's progress.

"There is a jargon now, don't forget to use tax money. Remember that, Lu use tax money. That the LPDP was formed, formed, and continued because of the trust of the people," he said.

He also apologized for the polemics that occurred and called it an institutional reflection to strengthen governance and supervision of the use of education funds.

Furthermore, Sudarto emphasized that most LPDP alumni have actively contributed to national development, both in the education sector, bureaucracy, and other professions, including at the international level by bringing Indonesia's good name.

"But I believe that all LPDP alumni are currently working very diligently to serve the country with dedication in all corners of the country in all types of jobs," he said.
