They combed the office yard to the river banks around the work area. Collecting plastic waste, old bottles, and household waste that got stuck in the water flow.

This environmental clean-up action was held simultaneously at a number of units as a quick response to President Prabowo Subianto's instructions regarding strengthening the culture of clean living and environmental preservation in the spirit of "Indonesia Asri".

For the management of PTPN IV PalmCo, a sub-holding of PTPN III (Persero), this step is not just a symbolic activity. The President Director of PTPN IV PalmCo, Jatmiko K. Santosa, appeared to collect inorganic waste on the riverbanks around the regional office. From packaging plastic to used shoes, various types of waste are picked up from the murky water.

"There are still many household waste that are thrown directly into the river. This is worrying. We start from ourselves and our work environment," he said on the sidelines of the activity.

According to Jatmiko, a clean environment is not just about aesthetics. He believes that cleanliness also affects the work atmosphere and productivity.

"If the environment is clean, the heart and mind are also clearer. The spirit of work is also different. Hopefully this can be a sustainable clean action with residents," he said.

This quick step is also a message about the sustainability of the plantation industry which cannot be separated from environmental responsibility. PalmCo considers itself not only a business entity, but also a part of the surrounding social and natural ecosystems.

Director of Strategy & Sustainability of PTPN IV PalmCo, Ugun Untaryo, explained that corve or volunteer work together gives a real perspective on the condition of the company's surrounding environment. "Sustainability is not enough to be a concept on paper. It must be lived through daily actions," he said.

On the ground, the division of duties is almost invisible. Staff officers, managers, to the board of directors work side by side. The relaxed atmosphere is interspersed with jokes, but it is still productive.
