JAKARTA - Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) together with PT Weda Bay Nickel (WBN), all tenants, and mining service business companies in the Weda Bay industrial area, North Maluku, continue to strengthen the implementation of the culture of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) as the main foundation in carrying out industrial operations. The implementation of this K3 culture is expected to create a safe, orderly, and sustainable environment, while maintaining the safety of workers in every industrial activity.

This strengthening of the K3 culture is also in line with the five strategies for the development of K3 culture launched by the Ministry of Manpower, namely education and training, worker involvement, improvement of systems and use of safety technology, enforcement of rules through periodic inspections, and committed leadership.

Within this framework, IWIP, WBN, and tenants make the National K3 Month 2026 as a strategic momentum to strengthen awareness and discipline for occupational safety in all operational lines.

General Manager of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) of Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) and Head of Mine Engineering of PT Weda Bay Nickel (WBN) Iwan Kurniawan emphasized that the K3 culture can only be built through consistency in implementation and active involvement of all parties.

"K3 culture is built through consistent implementation and participation of all parties. We use the momentum of National K3 Month to strengthen risk awareness, work discipline, and shared responsibility in maintaining safety in the work environment," said Iwan, in a statement, Tuesday, February 24.

During the National K3 Month of 2026, which took place from January 8 to February 14, 2026, IWIP, WBN, and tenants held various educational and participatory activities designed to strengthen the understanding of K3 in an applied manner. The series of activities include a health seminar themed Building a Healthy Heart Lifestyle in the Industrial Environment, a blood donor program, and various occupational safety challenges such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA) Challenge, Defensive Driving Challenge, 5R (5S) implementation competition, interactive Safety Talk, Mini Search and Rescue Challenge, to the competition of writing articles and producing animated videos with K3 themes.

Iwan added that all of these activities are not only intended as a means of education, but also as a medium for joint learning and evaluation of safety practices in the field. This participatory approach allows workers to be actively involved in identifying potential hazards and understanding the right prevention steps.

"Everyone has a role in maintaining safety in the work environment," he added.

Going forward, IWIP and WBN will continue to monitor and evaluate the implementation of K3, ensuring that a safe work culture is always in line with operational needs and industry standards. This ongoing commitment is a manifestation of the company's efforts to create a safe, healthy, productive work environment, and support the sustainability of the national industry, while maintaining the safety of every worker in all operational activities.
