JAKARTA - The government has increased the quota for subsidized houses through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) scheme to around 350,000 units.

Developers welcomed the policy positively and assessed that the increase in quotas would encourage the sale of subsidized houses.

Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Real Estate Indonesia Regional Leadership Council (DPD REI) Arvin F. Iskandar believes that the subsidized housing program still has good prospects because it is supported by government incentives, especially in terms of interest rates.

"I think subsidized houses are very optimistic. Because this is a government program and the government provides incentives to developers (developers) for subsidized houses," said Arvin after the Go Public Workshop entitled 'Solutions for Accelerating Non-bank Funding through the Capital Market' at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) office, Jakarta, Monday, February 23.

Arvin assessed that interest rate assistance through FLPP is an important factor in maintaining people's purchasing power while supporting developers in marketing subsidized houses.

However, Arvin highlighted the importance of the level of financing approval so that the absorption of subsidized houses is maintained.

According to him, so far consumers or end-users have had difficulties in terms of financing approval by banks.

He hopes that the government will continue to assist the credit approval process, so that the FLPP quota can be optimally absorbed.

"Second, back again for approval. We also ask the government to continue to help approve so that the quota for this FLPP can be raised," he said.

He said that the increase in the quota from the previous 200,000 units to around 200,000 to 350,000 units provided a positive boost for the subsidized housing sector.

"Currently, the quota is around 200 thousand or 350,000 (units). We are very optimistic and thank the government for increasing it from the previous 200,000," said Arvin.

The increase in the quota is believed to help maintain the momentum of the development of subsidized houses as well as expanding access for low-income people (MBR) to housing.
