JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Post-disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force for Sumatra and Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian revealed that the budget for repairing houses for victims of the Sumatra disaster had been realized as much as Rp. 4.7 trillion.

The budget was disbursed for the repair of medium and light houses. The budget has been disbursed by the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's instructions.

This was conveyed by Tito in a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) of the DPR with the Sumatra Post-Disaster Recovery Task Force at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 18.

"Alhamdulillah, the budget has been realized by the Ministry of Finance at the order of President (Prabowo Subianto) as much as Rp. 4.7 trillion, so last week we did a light and medium-sized ceremony and were distributed in 25 regencies/cities and it continued," said Tito.

Tito explained that the amount of assistance for houses with minor damage reached Rp. 15 million, moderate damage Rp. 30 million and severe damage Rp. 60 million. Assistance is distributed through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) every week.

Specifically for severely damaged houses, Tito explained two solutions that could be an option. First, the owner of a severely damaged house can hand over the construction to BNPB, the Ministry of Public Works (PU) and the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI).

Meanwhile, the second option, homeowners can temporarily stay in rented houses or family houses by being given assistance funds of Rp. 600,000 per month for three months. The assistance funds are also realized by BNPB.

He emphasized that the amount of assistance could be discussed further. "This is open for discussion later," said Tito.

Furthermore, said Tito, the government and BNPB are currently compiling the number of victims who will later want to build permanent housing on their personal land. If you want to be in another point, namely the new complex, the construction will be carried out by the Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP).
