JAKARTA - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) through its subsidiary PT BCA Finance is optimistic that the vehicle financing market is still wide open in line with the target of the Indonesian Motor Vehicle Industry Association (Gaikindo) which sets a sales target of 850,000 units throughout this year.
BCA Finance Director Petrus Karim said that historically, around 60 to 70 percent of the total national vehicle sales were financed through credit schemes. Assuming the Gaikindo target is in the range of 800,000 to 850,000 units, the financing potential is still very significant.
"Usually the percentage of financing from Gaikindo, if Gaikindo says 800,000 or 850,000 units, we will take about 60 to 70 percent of it as credit. The ratio is more or less like that," said Petrus in a discussion at the BCA Expoversery event, at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Thursday, February 5.
Petrus emphasized that BCA Finance is committed to supporting the achievement of the national automotive industry's sales target, and even opening up opportunities for realization above the initial projection if market conditions allow.
"We are trying to meet that, supporting so that (the target) 850,000 is achieved, even more if possible," he said.
In the map of competition for vehicle financing, Petrus said BCA Finance currently controls a market share of around 10 percent.
With a selective financing strategy and the support of the BCA Group ecosystem, Petrus is optimistic that it can maintain performance while strengthening its contribution to the growth of the national automotive industry.
"Our market share is around 10 percent," he said.
Previously, the Indonesian Motor Vehicle Industry Association (Gaikindo) targeted a car sales figure of 850 thousand units during 2026, which means a slight increase from the previous year which reached 833,692 units.
This was stated by Gaikindo's General Secretary Kukuh Kumara, and the target has indeed been agreed upon.
"Basically, we agreed yesterday, this year we set a target of 850,000 units," said Kukuh Kumara in a discussion event held by the Electric Mobility Ecosystem Association (AEML) in Jakarta, some time ago.
However, he said that the target could still change according to the development of the automotive market in the country. For example, such as new policies.
"If there are new developments, new policies, maybe we will see again," he added.
